SPAGHETTI DINNER:  Chef Ted is cooking a delicious spaghetti dinner on Friday, March 16. Bring the whole family anytime between 5:30 & 7:30pm to enjoy some fellowship, delicious food and learn about all the exciting things happening here at Hope! Cost: $10 per plate; but for every pound of food donated, you will receive $1 off your meal (up to $5). Social Ministry needs the following for 20-25 Easter Baskets: Ham, boxed potatoes, can corn & green beans, cornbread mixes and jars of applesauce. (This dinner replaces the fish fry originally scheduled.)


SUMMER CAMP 2018:  Mad Scientist Summer Camp is June 4-Aug. 17 for ages 2½ to 10. Sign up for a week or all summer! Before & After Care available. Weekly themes include: June 4-Over the Rainbow; 6/11-Robotics; 6/18-Rainforest; 6/25-Great Outdoors; 7/1-A Great Country; 7/9-Space Travelers; 7/16-Kitchen Chemistry; 7/23-All Creatures Great & Small; 7/30-Deep Blue Sea; 8/1-Back at the Lab; 8/13-Geology. SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE – an outreach opportunity to send a needy child to Hope School to learn about Jesus. Please use the designated envelope or you can enroll in Simply Giving. Envelopes and Simply Giving forms are available in the lobby. Gifts will be used specifically for scholarships. Checks payable to Hope Lutheran School with a note: “For Scholarship”.


YOUTH OASIS is at 6:30pm on Wednesdays. Come for an evening of games, hangout, discussion and fellowship. All youth are welcome. 

YOUTH SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: Sign-up during Sunday School

  1. Volunteer in the food pantry, 2nd & 4th Wednesdays & Saturdays of each month.
  2. Grounds Cleanup–March 17, 9am-Noon
  3. JR HIGH YOUTH are collecting school supplies for a needy school in Virginia Beach from March 18 – April 16. Items needed: Post-it Notes, Markers, Dry Erase Markers, Copy Paper, Colored Pencils, Highlighters, Crayons, Pencils. A bin will be located in the narthex to drop off supplies

YOUTH OASIS: Wednesdays, 6:30-8pm, in the Loft. Join us for a night of games, hangout, discussion and fellowship.

FIRST COMMUNION: Maundy Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm. Communicants and their parents are participating in First Communion classes Wednesday evenings.

ROAD TRIP! We have a fun day planned for Saturday, March 17. Youth will leave Hope at 8:30am and go to Ft Monroe to tour the Casemate Museum. Return about 1pm. No cost. Wear comfortable close-toed shoes, appropriate clothes for the weather and friends. Transportation & food provided. Sign up during Sunday School.


FUNDAMENTALS OF FAITH: If you are new to Hope or would like to meet new people, join Pastor Whitfield in Main 1 at 9:45am on Sundays. Learn what Hope is all about.

BIBLE CLASS:  Join Russell Clarke in the fellowship hall on Sundays at 9:45am for a study of 1 Samuel. This class is also broadcast live on Facebook.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY: Daniel (by Beth Moore) Ladies, join us in the fellowship hall for a study in faith-building and learn how to live with integrity in today’s self-absorbed society. The prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and threats. Today, believers in Jesus Christ face many of the same trials. This class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45am. For more info, contact Pam Lagoc at plagoc@shoreschristian.org.

March 23 is our next LWML Friday Night Crafts at 6pm. This month’s craft is brought to us by Kathy Winter. We will make cards to include in the cancer support bags. There is dinner provided.  Childcare available upon request.

LUTHER MANOR:  The ladies who visit the residents at Luther Manor are in need of Bingo prizes. Needed: Toilet paper & paper towels-individually wrapped, tissues-any size any shape. You may give them to either Jenny Erber, Linda Hammond, or Nancy Kettner, or leave them in Martha’s office earmarked for Luther Manor. Thank you and God bless

LEISURE LUTHERANS:  All seniors, you are invited to our next luncheon on Monday, March 19, at 11:30am. Location: Y’not Pizza (Landstown area). We will order off the lunch menu. We welcome new members. If you feel like having fun with a bunch of “oldsters,” please join us and help grow our ministry!  A sign-up sheet is posted on our podium in the narthex.

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY is 10:30am in Main 1. This group does not meet the last Wednesday of each month.

KNIGHTS OF HOPE: Devotional group of men, ages 18 & older, who gather the second Saturday each month at 8am for breakfast and to discuss the Bible and how to implement its teachings into their lives. They also participate in fun guy-centered activities, mission trips, as well as assist in different projects around the church.

GARDENS & GROUNDS CLEANUP: March 17 – 9am to Noon – In preparation for Easter, please consider helping us to clean away the vestiges of winter and beautify the grounds for our Easter Sunday Celebration. Youth are encouraged to help!

Member Profile: Each week, we will highlight members during our announcements and on social media. This will help us get to know each other outside of passing the peace and short stints during tasty fellowship. Ideally, everyone will be highlighted. Questions asked will simply be: What’s your name? When did you join Hope? Why do you like Hope? What special talent do you have? Describe something unique about yourself. PRESCHOOL & CHILDCARE DIRECTOR: fulltime; 3-5 years of director experience, minimum Associates Degree in a child-related field, clean background check, preferably grounded in the LCMS.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR: part-time, 2–4 years of experience leading a church-based children’s ministry, Bachelor degree, preferably in early childhood, strong Christian faith (LCMS background preferred)

MUSICIANS NEEDED for the Youth Service at 11am & the 10:45am contemporary service in the fellowship hall: Drummers, guitar players, keyboard, singers.
