Sunday Morning Schedule for June 25 ~ 3rd Sunday after Pentecost

8:15am Traditional Worship Service

9:45am Summer Sunday School

11am Blended Praise Service with Holy Communion

WORSHIP FOR SUNDAY, JULY 2: we will have one worship service at 10am. Now the Feast and Celebration is a beautiful liturgical service with hymns and holy communion. Take some time from your long holiday weekend to enjoy worship as one family at Hope Lutheran.

ADULT BIBLE CLASSES: FUNDAMENTALS OF FAITH: If you are new to Hope, join Pastor Cofer in Main 1 at 9:45am on Sunday. WORLD RELIGIONS: Led by Chris Taylor, this class meets in the fellowship hall at 9:45am Sundays.

YOUNG COUPLES CLASS: Sunday morning classes are taking a break for the summer. They plan to get together for fellowship opportunities monthly (Friday or Saturday activities). As activities are planned, they will keep you updated.

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS: Worship Ministry Team is seeking experienced musicians (instrumentalist & vocalist) to perform special music during worship services this summer. If you have been blessed with the talent of music and are willing to share, please contact Rev. Timothy Utton, Alison Hernandez, Kathryn Wacker or anyone on the worship ministry team.

CAR WASH: TRUTH Youth Group Car Wash is Saturday, June 24, from 9am to 1pm. Best car wash in town! They vacuum!


Our next meeting will be Sunday, Aug. 6, in between services in Main 2.

THANKS to the congregation for donating books and snacks to our community sailors who are either currently underway or traveling.  Both the USS BUSH and VAW 124 and the USO @ Norfolk International Airport were very grateful for our donations.

FOOD PANTRY: we served 20 families for the month of May.  If you would like to donate to our pantry we could use the following: 15oz cans of fruit of any variety, cold cereal (Cheerios, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies), 8-12oz tuna, 24oz syrup and 32oz pancake mix, 16oz peanut butter and 16oz jelly. Donations are to be placed in the yellow wagon in the narthex.

BLESSING BAGS: located in the yellow crate under the table in the narthex.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS: On Nov. 22 we will hand out baskets to families participating in our food pantry program.

ANGEL TREE: we will participate in the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree and host a Christmas party for 25 children and their parent or guardian on Saturday, Dec. 16. In the meantime, we need to start collecting the following: 40 Christmas stockings, 25 clear Christmas bulbs, 50 red jingle bells, jars of flakey white and silver glitter, silver cording, a dozen white taper candles, and 1 inch wide white satin ribbon and ½ inch wide red satin ribbon. Items can be left in the yellow wagon.

Sunday School! Classes begin with JAM TIME at 9:45am in Kids Kingdom. We start with our Opening Praise and then go off to our classes. Sunday School is for ages 4 thru rising 6th grade.

SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE – an outreach opportunity to send a needy child to Hope School to learn about Jesus. Please use the designated envelope or you can enroll in Simply Giving. Envelopes and Simply Giving forms are available in the lobby. Gifts will be used specifically for scholarships. Checks payable to Hope Lutheran School with a note: “For Scholarship”.

HOPE SUMMER CAMP 2017: June 19 – August 18 for ages 2 1/2 thru 10. Time: 8:30am to Noon. Doors open at 7:30. Aftercare available until 5:30pm. Different themes each week. Contact Jennifer Rauch for more information: JLRHOPESUMMERCAMP@GMAIL.COM


YOUTH GROUP MISSION TRIP: This year’s Mission Trip will take nineteen youth and leaders to Copper Hill, Tennessee for a week of service, fellowship, praise and worship. We expect to spend most of our time repairing a home for a needy family. The week will be accented with white water rafting, horseback riding and team building events during our free time. We depart July 23 and return July 29. Please pray for our youth and the families they will serve.

YOUTH OASIS is each Wednesday in the Loft. Join us 6:30-8pm for an evening of games, hangout, discussion and fellowship. All youth are welcome.


WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY is 10:30am in Main 1. This class does not meet the last Wednesday morning of each month.

KNIGHTS OF HOPE: Devotional group of men, ages 18 & older, who gather the second Saturday each month at 8am for breakfast and to discuss the Bible and how to implement its teachings into their lives. They also participate in fun guy-centered activities, mission trips, as well as assist in different projects around the church. Notifications are sent out via email. SAVE THE DATE! FISH FRY FUNDRAISER is Aug. 12 (Saturday) Time: 3 to 7pm. Cost: $10 per plate. This is a fundraiser for our Food Pantry. For every pound of food you donate that day (up to 5 pounds) a dollar will be taken off your meal.

SIMPLY GIVING (Hope’s automated giving program): It’s easy to sign up, easy to change if needed, and you never have to write another tithe check. It’s a great way to take care of your offering even while you’re on vacation. Forms are available in the church office or by e-mail: admin@hope.hrcoxmail.com.  There is no fee to you. BRINGING LANGUAGES TO LIFE: See what everyone is talking about, check it out on http://hamptonroads.com/2013/02/arabic-lessons-held-virginia-beach-church.  At Hope Lutheran, Arabic, Hebrew and French Language classes are taught by Camelia Eid. HOPE’S EMERGENCY FUND: Hope is blessed with faithful members who contribute to a fund that our pastors use to help meet the occasional emergency needs of others. Should the Lord move you to contribute, please note on your check: “Pastor’s Emergency Fund.”
